Frequently asked questions.
Have questions about getting started, ADHD testing, therapy, or EMDR? You’re not alone. Here are some of the most common questions I get, along with answers to help you feel more informed about what to expect.
Getting Started
Do you offer free consultations?
I don’t offer free consultation calls. Instead, you can reach out through the contact form and I’ll follow up with next steps and any information you might need to decide if this feels like a good fit. This helps keep things simple and avoids adding another step to your schedule.
How do I get started?
The first step is to fill out the contact form on my website. From there, I’ll follow up with next steps, answer any initial questions, and help you get scheduled for an initial appointment. If we decide to move forward, you’ll receive access to a secure client portal where you can complete forms and manage appointments.
What can I expect in the first session?
The first session is focused on getting a sense of what’s going on and what you’re hoping for. We’ll talk through your current concerns, any relevant background, and what feels most important to focus on. It’s also a chance to get a feel for working together and start figuring out what direction makes the most sense.
Do I have to know exactly what I need before reaching out?
Not at all. A lot of people reach out feeling unsure whether they’re looking for therapy, EMDR, or ADHD testing — or even where to start. That’s completely okay. We can figure that out together and find a starting point that feels manageable.
Are sessions in person or virtual?
All sessions are conducted virtually and available to adults located in Ohio. Virtual sessions are held through a secure video platform, allowing you to attend from the comfort of your own space without needing to commute.

ADHD Testing
How do I know if I need ADHD testing as an adult?
A lot of adults start to wonder about ADHD when things feel harder than they “should”, like staying organized, following through on tasks, managing time, or keeping up with everyday responsibilities. You might feel overwhelmed, stuck in cycles of procrastination, or like you’re constantly trying to catch up. Some people were never diagnosed as kids, while others are re-evaluating symptoms that have changed over time. ADHD testing can help provide clarity and a better understanding of how your brain works.
What does adult ADHD testing involve?
ADHD testing is a multi-step process designed to get a full picture of your experiences, both past and present. This includes clinical interviews, standardized self-report measures, and, if possible, input from someone who knows you well. We look at patterns related to attention, organization, follow-through, and emotional regulation. The goal is not just to determine whether ADHD is present, but to understand how it shows up in your life and what support might be helpful. You can learn more about the ADHD testing process here or reach out to get started here
How long does ADHD testing take?
The ADHD testing process takes place over multiple sessions. This allows time to gather accurate information, complete assessment measures, and review everything thoroughly. After the assessment is complete, you’ll receive a personalized written report with results and recommendations, and we’ll go over everything together so you feel clear on next steps.
Will I receive a diagnosis and report?
Yes. If ADHD is present, a diagnosis will be included as part of your evaluation. You’ll also receive a detailed written report that explains your results, provides context for your experiences, and includes personalized recommendations. This report can be helpful for your own understanding, as well as for sharing with other providers if needed.
Therapy & EMDR
What is EMDR therapy and how does it work?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy approach that helps process past experiences that still feel stuck, overwhelming, or hard to move on from. It uses bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or tapping) to help your brain reprocess those experiences in a way that feels more manageable. Many people find that things that once felt intense or triggering begin to feel less overwhelming over time.
Is EMDR effective for anxiety or past experiences?
Yes. EMDR is commonly used to address the impact of past experiences, as well as anxiety, stress, and patterns that feel hard to shift. Even if something doesn’t feel like a “big trauma,” it can still have a meaningful impact on how you think, feel, and respond. EMDR can help reduce the intensity of those experiences and create more space for you to move forward.
What is therapy like?
Therapy is a space to slow down, make sense of what’s going on, and start to approach things differently. Some sessions may focus on processing emotions or past experiences, while others might be more practical, like building coping strategies, working through patterns, or navigating current stressors. The process is collaborative and adjusted to what you need.
How often will we meet?
Most clients start with weekly sessions, especially in the beginning. This helps build momentum and consistency. Over time, we can adjust the frequency depending on your needs, goals, and what feels manageable in your schedule. You can read more about EMDR and therapy services here or get started here
Fees & Insurance
Do you accept insurance?
I am a private-pay practice and do not accept insurance directly. However, I can provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage varies depending on your plan, so I recommend contacting your insurance provider to better understand your benefits.
What is a superbill?
A superbill is a detailed receipt for services that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. While reimbursement is not guaranteed, many clients are able to receive partial reimbursement depending on their out-of-network benefits.
Do you accept HSA or FSA cards?
Yes, HSA and FSA cards can be used for payment.
What are your rates?
Session fees vary depending on the service:
Initial intake session: $200
Ongoing therapy or EMDR sessions (60 minutes): $180
Adult ADHD assessment: $1,000
ESA assessment: $250
All sessions are self-pay and processed through a secure client portal.
Can you check my out-of-network benefits for me?
You can use the benefits checker tool below to get an estimate of your out-of-network coverage. This can help you better understand what reimbursement might look like based on your specific plan. You’re also welcome to contact your insurance provider directly for the most accurate information.
You’re also welcome to reach out here if you have questions.
Policies
What is your cancellation policy?
Appointments can be rescheduled or canceled with at least 24 hours’ notice. If an appointment is missed or canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice, the full session fee will be charged.
I understand that things come up, and if something unexpected happens, we can talk through it. At the same time, this policy helps protect your reserved time and allows me to offer that space to others when possible.
